Super Snowy Samoens

It’s All About the Snow

Given the impressive levels of white stuff falling on Samoëns and the surrounding area, it’s only right that this blog post is about snow! The start to the season has been incredible and the skies keep on giving! Read on for the snow facts…

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

The weather outside is not frightful, but ski conditions are truly delightful!

A webcam shot from this morning… Look at the snow! Can you see all the people? Nope – us neither! The slopes are typically quiet for January!

Another bluebird day in Samoëns

It has been cold here in Samoens for the last few days and the snow has been largely incessant. In addition to our regular skiers, the mountain lovers on our guided snowshoeing holiday have been loving the opportunity to break fresh trails and play around in the fluffy white powder.

Amazing Early Season Conditions – the facts!

After such an amazing summer it’s easy to forget how impressive winter can be in the Alps and merely perceive the snow levels to be something special. This year however, we can use some stats to prove how special these early season conditions are… So here are the facts!

Snow on the chimney of the Petite Ourse

Most snow for over 8 years at 1600m at this time

At 1600 metres, we have more snow in week 4 than we’ve seen for at least 8 years (as far back as our records go…)

Most snow at 2500m in last 8 years at this time

At 2500 metres, we also have more snow in week 4 than we’ve seen for at least 8 years (as far back as our records go…)

Quiet January Skiing

Despite these conditions being the best for at least eight years, January remains a quiet and perfect time to enjoy both on and off-piste skiing.

For those able to act quickly, we’ve short breaks on offer in January (see here). Otherwise, why not plan a trip for February or March.

We are filling up quickly so get in touch soon if you want to make the most of the best early season snow we’ve seen in years!
